Abstract

The roller-die drawing process is an efficient method for producing high-precision, small-cross-section strip-type pro- files, combining the advantages of rolling and drawing. The primary tool is a roller die featuring non-driven working rolls. Com- pared to conventional cold rolling and flattening, this process has higher technological flexibility and does not require large capital investments. Advantages over traditional drawing in monolithic drawing dies are lower energy consumption, greater allowable deformation per pass, and better uniformity of product properties. The main drawback is the presence of tensile force, which, combined with a reduction in the metal’s ductility, can cause the rolled stock to fail, limiting the range of profiles and the total amount of reduction per pass. The ductility of metal can be increased by thermal or mechanical methods. The thermal method is energy-intensive, while the mechanical method involves alternating deformation of profiles, which can be implemented using straightening equipment or scale breakers. To solve the problem, it is proposed to combine drawing in a roller drawing machine with alternating deformation in a roller bending-tensile device. To select the parameters of alternat- ing deformation, mathematical modeling of the process was used, taking into account the influence on the stress distribution in the profile. Analytical studies using the example of steel grade St.08 showed that residual stresses are formed due to the inhomogeneity of the distribution of plastic deformations along the height of the profile. After unloading, compressive residual stresses are formed on the upper surface, and tensile stresses – on the lower surface; in the middle of the profile, the stresses are close to zero, and in other parts they have opposite signs. The results obtained allow us to determine the main approaches to designing the technological parameters of the process of alternating deformation of strip-type profiles in a bending-tensile device, which will ensure their high-quality production. The studies conducted demonstrate the feasibility of solving the prob- lem of supplying machine-building and instrument-making enterprises with precision profiles across a wide range of sizes.
